Schedule Reiki Sessions below. In the “Let Animals Lead” ® method I learned, which was developed by Kathleen Prasad, the Reiki is sourced through intention and meditation. The animal is respectfully invited to participate in the “energy space” and can accept or decline.

If an animal declines to participate, it will either walk away or will occupy itself in another activity when the Reiki has been started, but this rarely happens as animals are very attracted to spiritual energy.

Sessions are generally 20 or 30 minutes and will be done distantly. Since Reiki always goes where it is needed most, and since the animal will only take as much of the energy as it needs at the time, this time frame is generally sufficient where only minor rebalancing is needed.

When working with a pet who has recently had an illness, injury, trauma, or surgery, I recommend starting with 4 sessions of 20 to 30 minutes on 4 consecutive days. After which, a re-evaluation can be done.

Communication with the pet’s human is obviously of the utmost importance to be able to evaluate the results of the sessions. Since Reiki does not heal or cure in and of itself but stimulates the pet’s self-healing system, each animal’s response will be individual and of course, there can be no guarantees.

It is best to do the sessions when the pet is quiet and can be monitored by the human guardian. Appointments can be made in advance Mondays to Fridays between 8:00 am and 7:00 p.m. If your pet is scheduled for home euthanasia and you want a Reiki session done to aid with a peaceful and smooth transition, an exception can be made to the work hours.
